Dr Johnny Maharaj attended Trinity College from its inception in 1958 to 1965 where he received a well-rounded education. He went on to study medicine at the University of the West Indies and then to specialize in family medicine obtaining diplomas from the University of the West Indies and the Margaret Sanger Institute of New York.
Dr Maharaj holds the unique distinction of being the first graduate of Trinity College to become a medical practitioner. He is now in his 42nd year as a practicing physician. He has also taught for 21 years as an Associate Lecturer in family medicine at the University of the West Indies.
Dr Maharaj has always made the care of his patients his first concern and possesses those competencies associated with medical professionalism and medical ethics that underpin the trust that the public has in Doctors.
The Trinity College Alumni Association recognises Dr. Johnny Maharaj as its first member to become a medical doctor and for his contribution to medical education and health care.
